Pretty straightforward about what kind of phone is being marketed towards who out of these two devices. The Diamond is obviously more for the person who like the Iphone type devices, while the Diamond is more of a normal device for people who like to do things the old fashioned way with a QWERTY keyboard. Like a lot of new devices coming out, its more about preference about how you want to operate it than most of its features.

Leaked info from Verizon, shows that the new Blackberry Storm and HTC Diamond are to be released just in time for the holidays! With Blackberry Storm releasing in mid November and HTC Diamond releasing in mid- December, lots of Christmas wish lists will be including these top of the line, edge cutting phone devices. Although, Sprint already has the HTC Diamond, not many people have Sprint. I was surprised to see that Sprint had the Diamond available already but, only online. Most of the people I know that have Sprint, didnt even know that Sprint had the HTC Diamond until I asked them about it. Anyway, as far as these devices being available on Verizon, it should be a bigger deal... right? Maybe, since the very much popular and desirable Blackberry Storm will be released a little before the HTC Diamond, itll be one great phone after the other. Verizons leaked document shows the dates of  training for each device, that presumably Verizon sales techs should complete before launch. Even so, they will still be available for the holiday season which means Santa Clause is coming to town and bringin it down! Source: intomobile.com

I went to the Sprint website to browse for a smartphone for holiday gifting. The options are a bit limited with this carrier for a good all around phone and the two best ones that I saw are coincidentally made by the same company, HTC. Check out this link for full list of Sprints smartphones.

So, the price difference between the 2 phones, with a 2yr contract, of course, is $50. The HTC Touch Pro regular price is $579.99 minus $180 instant rebate and $100 mail in rebate which comes to $299 for the phone with a 2 year agreement. The Touch Diamond is $549.99 minus a $200 instant rebate and $100 mail in rebate which comes to $249 for the phone with a 2 year agreement.  What really is the difference between these 2 devices? Not that much when you compare them side by side on the Sprint website. The only benefit for the HTC Touch Pro that I see is that it has an external memory slot, which can make a difference if you run out of memory on your phone.

As per BGR theres some exciting news for HTC Touch Diamond fans. It seems a new ROM for the handset has leaked out and its got great new features, fixes and upgrades. Major news is the inclusion of Mobile Internet Explorer 6 which sports full flash support among other things. Also the new ROM includes a new build of Opera 9.5, a new audio manager, a new camera app, new fullscreen media player, a new version of rsshub, as well as an improved YouTube client. Now for the bad news.... it hasnt yet received the Sprint go-ahead so start saying your prayers and hope it goes through fast.
